DECS Country Teaching Scholarships:

• support eligible teacher education students while undertaking study in identified areas of need
• guarantee recipients permanent employment with DECS

Successful applicants must demonstrate a high level of achievement in subject areas and practicum reports throughout the course of their study and express a commitment to teach in the country.

Scholarships include:

$26,000 On Track Country Teaching Scholarships
Targets final year undergraduate and post graduate teacher education students for identified hard to fill country vacancies.

There are currently no advertised vacancies. Further information regarding positions will be made available from late June 2010.

$20,000 Country Connect Teaching Scholarships
Targets final year undergraduate and post graduate teacher education students committed to teaching in rural and remote schools in the Eyre & Western and Far North Regions.

Priority is given to targeted subject areas. In 2010 these include: Senior Secondary Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Technology Studies and Home Economics. Students studying in other Senior Secondary areas are welcome to apply.

Round 1 2010 applications close: 19 March 2010.

$10,000 Country Choice Teaching Scholarships
Targets year 12 students, undergraduate and post graduate students in any year of a teacher education course with a commitment to country teaching.

A limited number of scholarships are available.  Eligible applicants include students studying in the following subject areas: Senior Secondary Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Technology Studies, Home Economics and Special Education.

Round 1 2010 applications close: 19 March 2010.
